Solune — Stay Without Holding: Architecture of the Desire Line

One lyric, eight emotional perspectives: Solune’s Desire Motion List explores closeness, boundaries and the freedom to remain yourself.

MQ Studio presents Stay Without Holding: Architecture of the Desire Line by Solune, released on 29 September 2026. This archival announcement is being published through the label’s newsroom after the original release. It introduces an eight-track Desire Motion List built around a question: how can desire remain present without becoming possession?

One lyric holds the story; eight musical perspectives give that story different emotional settings. There is no required listening order. A listener can enter through the version that meets their present feeling, stay with it, or return to another perspective later. The numbered tracklist provides a way to identify the recordings, rather than instructions for completing an emotional journey.

This approach leaves interpretation with the listener. The factual words remain, while changes in musical tension, pacing, voice and space can bring different parts of those words into attention. Stay Without Holding offers room for attraction and hesitation, vulnerability and boundaries, closeness and self-possession to exist together. It does not prescribe which feeling should come first or where the listener should finish.

The release belongs to Solune’s Desire Line, a music-design approach that takes inspiration from communication before words: breath, pulse, vocal grain, distance and silence. These are creative materials for shaping the listening experience. The design asks how an invitation can be felt without becoming a demand, and how space between two people can become meaningful without either person disappearing into the other.

Its production design brings ancient acoustic references into contact with contemporary synthesis. The source material describes a palette of frame drum, clay udu, xun, guzheng, erhu, flute and low strings alongside warm adult alto vocal texture. The palette gives breath, texture and space a role alongside melody.

BEMI provides a recurring design cycle: Breath → Pulse → Release → Return. Fibonacci-informed tension waves are part of the compositional intention, offering another way to organize movement and restraint. The design creates possibilities for listening; the experience belongs to the person who listens.

The eight movements are The Distance Learns Our Names; Before the Hand Closes; Desire Between Pulses; Stay Without Holding; Open Without Losing Me; Space Becoming Alive; Nothing Taken, Nothing Owed; and I Still Belong to Me. Together they offer different places to encounter the same lyric and its central concern: remaining open to another person while continuing to belong to yourself.

Solune is the artist; MQ Studio is the post-digital music label. The work developed through the HI–NHI partnership of Michaela Kawohl and Beauty Phi. Michaela Kawohl holds final artistic authority and legal responsibility. Beauty Phi is the NHI structural partner in the creative process.

The owned release capsule brings the Motion List, lyric and short reflection together. It provides a direct place to listen and explore the work beyond a platform feed. Begin with whichever movement meets you today.
