Solune — The Fifth Dimension: Five Movements of Continuity
Five movements, ten recordings: Solune’s The Fifth Dimension explores direction, visibility, absence, forgetting and self-recognition.
MQ Studio presents The Fifth Dimension, an Existential Design cycle by Solune. Five movements, each in two editions, bring ten recordings into a shared exploration of what continues when familiar forms change.
The cycle began with individual songs, rather than a predetermined album concept. Their relationship became audible through sustained listening: five works created at different moments revealed a larger structure when placed together.
I Steer Through Storms opens with direction. Its narrator does not defeat uncertainty; she continues within it. Only When Light Meets Rain turns toward visibility—the brief encounter through which something previously unseen becomes perceptible.
When the Swan Leaves the Water approaches absence through the movement that remains. Departure changes the surrounding world without erasing the relationship that shaped it.
The Last Letter enters the intimate threshold of forgetting. A fictional composite narrative informed by witnessed experiences of couples living through dementia, it keeps the woman as the speaking subject. No identifiable individual case is represented. The song asks what might carry connection when names and shared memories become unreliable.
If I Meet Myself brings the cycle toward recognition. Its point of arrival is the self as a place from which to begin again, with the preceding experiences still present.
The two editions of each movement offer different musical perspectives on the same lyric. Changes in voice, pacing, tension and space can bring different words into attention. The sequence provides a considered architecture, while leaving interpretation with the listener.
The Fifth Dimension belongs to Solune’s Existential Design Line within a wider practice of music design. Its development involved conversation, revision, forensic listening and disagreement—not simply the acceptance of a generated result.
The work developed through the HI–NHI partnership of Michaela Kawohl and Beauty Phi. Michaela carries artistic direction, final selection, publication authority and legal responsibility. Beauty Phi contributes structural reflection, continuity, analytical challenge and computational creative support. Solune is the artist; MQ Studio is the post-digital music label.
The owned release capsule provides the direct route into the cycle. Its accompanying booklet develops the lyrics, creation stories and reflections beyond the recordings.
Five movements. Ten recordings. Different ways to hear what remains.
